About the team:

The Intelligent Complex Systems Team, currently a part of the Waterloo Research Centre, examines recent advancements in artificial intelligence (AI) and robotics to determine its potential for broader applications.  This innovative team researches AI challenges such as matching human capabilities and ensuring the safety of collaborative AI systems.

About the job:

• Research the intelligent complex system architecture and advanced methods and technologies for ensuring system attributes, and define the strategic vision and execution roadmap of the intelligent complex system architecture.

• Build a future-oriented engineering capability framework for intelligent and complex systems, integrate cross-domain science and technology into engineering activities throughout the system lifecycle, and make system behavior assurance a native capability and basic attribute of products.

• Gain insight into and grasp the future development direction of intelligent complex system technologies in the industry, and closely cooperate with academia and industry around the world to ensure the company's advanced development of intelligent complex system technologies.

• Continuously build teams with keen technical insights and innovative research, attract and obtain top AI talent, efficiently collaborate with the North American team and HQ, and provide cutting-edge guidance on the technical direction.

About the ideal candidate:

• Over 10 years of team management experience with proven ability to foster strong communication, effectively mobilize internal and external resources for seamless collaboration, and demonstrate a deep understanding of multicultural compatibility and talent development.

• Possess a comprehensive business vision and strong logical architecture design capabilities. Demonstrate exceptional insight and understanding of complex systems, with the ability to deeply grasp cutting-edge knowledge in intelligent systems. Exhibit a keen eye for identifying critical issues and driving innovative solutions, leading to impactful breakthroughs.

• Extensive knowledge of comprehensive complexity theory and scientific principles, with a deep understanding of the various challenges involved in complex system development, ranging from conceptualization and methodologies to architecture design, system implementation, abstraction, and reasoning.

• Have a deep understanding of system and system engineering theories and methods, have years of successful practices in architecture design and development, and preside over successful practices in analysis and design of key architecture projects at the corporate/product line level.

• Experience in complex system analysis and design, including physical architecture exploration, system computing model and performance analysis, system behavior uncertainty analysis, and reliability design.

• Have technical leadership in translating abstract ideas into deliverables, preside over cooperative research with overseas academic institutions in cutting-edge fields, and successfully implement achievements in products.
