This Candidate Privacy Policy describes how Huawei Technologies Canada Co., Ltd., and its subsidiaries and affiliates (collectively, "Huawei Canada", "we", “our”, or "us") collect, use, disclose, communicate, store, and process your personal information when you apply for a job with Huawei Canada and in the context of our recruitment process (“Recruitment Process”).
This Candidate Privacy Policy describes the categories of personal information that we collect from you as an applicant, how we use your personal information, how we protect your personal information, when we may disclose your personal information to third parties, and when we may transfer your personal information to other jurisdictions, among other things. This Candidate Privacy Policy also describes your rights regarding the personal information that we hold about you and how you can exercise your rights.

1. How We Collect Your Personal Information
Huawei Canada may collect personal information directly from you when you submit a job application to us. We may also receive personal information from third parties, as further described below. To the extent permitted or required by law, we may collect the following personal information in connection with the Recruitment Process:
· Personal contact details such as your name, home address, telephone number(s), and personal email address(es). This information is collected to identify you, communicate with you throughout the Recruitment Process, and ensure accurate and timely communications with you regarding the status of your candidacy.
· Work history and relevant professional experiences, including details of your past and current employers, job titles, employment dates and duration, responsibilities, areas of expertise, skills, professional achievements, and information you may provide in your resume, curriculum vitae, and cover letter. We collect this information to evaluate your professional experience, relevant competencies and skills, verify your employment background, and assess your suitability for the position you are seeking.
· Education information and academic background, including your level of education, information relating to your degrees, certifications, transcripts, academic records, training records, and membership in professional associations or regulatory bodies relevant to the position sought. We collect this information to evaluate your qualifications, relevant competencies and skills, verify your academic background, determine whether your academic background meets the qualifications required for the position, and assess your suitability for the position sought.
· Compensation expectations and history, including information about your current and past salary, bonuses, commissions, benefits, and compensation details. We collect this information to help us understand your compensation expectations, desired salary, and benefits, and determine whether they align with the pay range and compensation that we offer for the position sought.
· Information that you provide during phone screenings, virtual meetings, and interviews. We collect this information to better understand your candidacy, evaluate your competencies and skills, and assess your suitability for the position you are seeking.
· Details regarding the type of employment sought and employment preferences, including the nature of employment sought (e.g., full-time, part-time), desired work schedule, preferred work location, willingness to relocate, specific accommodations, and general job preferences. We collect this information to help us determine whether the position’s duties and conditions represent a good fit with your stated employment desires, preferences, and availability.
· Background and reference checks. With your prior consent (where required by law), we will perform background and reference checks to help us verify and confirm your application information. Accordingly, we may receive personal information provided by your third-party references and our third-party service providers, providing background checks and screening services. This information may include details of your work, education and professional experiences, opinions on your aptitude and suitability for the role, and any other details relevant to your employment with Huawei Canada. We may also conduct other checks such as criminal background, education verification and/or reference check depending on the role. We will obtain consent for these checks where required by law.
· Prior employment information with Huawei Canada, our subsidiaries or affiliates, including records of previous employment with Huawei Canada, our subsidiaries or affiliates, previous employment dates, and positions held. We collect this information to help us better understand your relevant experiences, competencies, and skills, and assess your suitability for the position you are seeking.
· From public sources, where permitted, we may collect personal information that is publicly available. For example, we may collect additional information about you from professional networking platforms (e.g., LinkedIn), public-facing news websites, and scholarly article search engines (e.g., Google Scholar).
2. How We Use Your Personal Information
We may use the personal information collected for the following purposes:
· Evaluating your job application, including assessing your skills, expertise, qualifications, and competencies that align with the position’s requirements.
· Verifying the information you provided in support of your job application and carrying out employment, background, and reference checks, where applicable, subject to your consent where required by applicable law.
· Communicating with you about the Recruitment Process and your application, including scheduling interviews and providing you with updates regarding the status or outcome of your candidacy.
· Preparing, communicating, and managing employment offers, as well as completing the onboarding process if you are hired. This includes verifying your identity and eligibility to work, preparing employment agreements and related documentation, setting up payroll and benefits administration, and creating employee profiles and system access.
· Keeping records related to our hiring processes and your Recruitment Process.
· Creating and submitting reports, such as work permit compliance, pay equity, human rights standards, and as required by applicable laws or regulations.
· Complying with our corporate governance requirements.
· Analyzing and improving our application and hiring process.
· Complying with applicable laws, regulations, legal processes, or responding to enforceable government subpoenas, court orders, warrants, writs, or lawful requests.
· Protecting our rights and property, that of other job applicants, our employees and personnel, or the public, as required or where permitted by law.
When you apply for a job with us, we may also use your personal information to inform you about other positions that may be relevant to you, to contact you in connection with other positions we believe may be suitable for you, and to inform you of future employment opportunities with Huawei Canada. Except where permitted by applicable law, if we need to use your personal information for a purpose other than as set out in this Candidate Privacy Policy, we will provide you with prior notice and, where required by law, seek your consent. We may also use your personal information without your knowledge or consent where required by applicable law or regulation (for example, we may be compelled by legal action, court order, or regulatory authorities to disclose your personal information, or we may use your personal information in certain emergency circumstances).
3. How We Share Your Personal Information
We may disclose or communicate your personal information to our employees, contractors, designated agents, or third-party service providers who require it to assist us in administering the Recruitment Process, including third parties acting on our behalf. Currently, the third-party service providers that we use who may have access to or be in possession of your personal information are:

We take appropriate measures to ensure our third-party service providers protect the security and confidentiality of your personal information. We may also disclose or communicate your personal information to the following group of third parties, namely:
· To our employees and personnel who need to know such information, which would generally only include human resources employees, personnel involved in the Recruitment Process, relevant directors and managers, our information technology department, compliance team, and legal department. 4. Cross-Border Data Transfers
The global nature of our business sometimes requires us to collaborate with third parties who may be located outside of Canada. 5. How We Protect Your Personal Information

For example, we use passwords and firewalls, have implemented access management controls, and limit access to personal information to those employees, agents, contractors, and other third parties who have a legitimate business need for such access. Additionally, our employees receive training on the secure and confidential handling of your personal information.
We have established governance policies and practices to ensure the security and proper management of your personal information throughout its life cycle. Our governance policies and practices include a framework for (i) the keeping and destruction of your personal information, (ii) defining the roles and responsibilities of the members of our personnel throughout the life cycle of your personal information, and (iii) a process for dealing with complaints regarding the protection of your personal information.

If your candidacy is not retained and we do not ultimately hire you at the conclusion of the Recruitment Process, we will retain your personal information in accordance with our document retention policy to comply with our data retention obligations under applicable laws and regulations. When the retention of your personal information is no longer necessary for the purposes described in this Candidate Privacy Policy or our applicable document retention policy, or otherwise to comply with applicable laws and regulations, we will securely dispose of your personal information.
7. Application of our Employee Privacy Policy
If you are selected for employment, the personal information we collected during the Recruitment Process will be used to create your employee file and will become part of your employment record. We will use this information in the context of your onboarding and to manage our future and ongoing employment relationship with you. As a result, from the moment you accept employment with us, your personal information will no longer be subject to this Candidate Privacy Policy and will be governed by the Huawei Canada Privacy Protection Policy governing our employees’ personal information. 8. Your Privacy Rights
It is important that the personal information we hold about you is accurate and current. Please keep us informed if your personal information changes during the Recruitment Process. You may also have the right to request a portable copy of your personal information, depending on your jurisdiction.
