About the job:
Manage and continuously improve the company’s compliance programs covering Export Control (40%), Trade Secret Protection (30%), and anti-bribery (30%), ensuring alignment with applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies
Classify products, technologies, and services for export control purposes
Coordinate with HQ and overseas research institutes to implement compliance measures
Gain insight about local policy and regulation changes in Canada, summarize and analyze its impact on business, and improve company compliance mechanisms
Monitor and interpret changes in export control laws and regulations; communicate impact to stakeholders
Conduct compliance assessment of company research projects, analyze control points, and develop project compliance solutions
Support internal and external inquiries related to export compliance and participate in internal and external audits
Job requirements
About the ideal candidate:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in International Trade, Law, Global Compliance, Engineering, or a related field
Knowledge of ICT-related technologies is highly preferred, including artificial intelligence, wireless communications, optical communications, advanced computing, computer science and engineering, semiconductor materials, and testing equipment
Familiarity with any of the following Huawei products or solution domains is a strong plus: 5G/4G base stations and antenna systems, core network equipment, optical access and transmission equipment, data center infrastructure, enterprise cloud solutions, smartphones, tablets, and wearable devices
Project management experience in export controls, international trade compliance in the ICT field
Strong knowledge of U.S. export control regulations, sanctions programs, and associated compliance concepts
Strong English verbal and writing communication skills
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
Strong communication and collaboration skills, ability to translate complex regulatory concepts into actionable business guidance
Strong organizational, leadership, and project management skills
