Huawei Canada has an immediate 12-month contract opening for a Benefits & Payroll Assistant.

From Procurement to Finance to IT services and much more, the Quality & Operation Department provides critical support for all of Huawei Canada. About the job:

  • Manage employee payroll profiles, benefits enrollment and changes, group insurance claims, and related employee inquiries. Support payroll processing, annual benefits open enrollment, and other benefits-related activities.

  • Perform regular reconciliation between payroll systems, benefits/insurance provider systems, and internal records; communicate with employees to confirm discrepancies, complete necessary adjustments, and maintain supporting documentation to ensure data integrity and traceability.

  • Manage social insurance matters for employees assigned between Canada and China, including certificates of coverage, social insurance exemptions, and related extension requests.

  • Process payroll, benefits, WCB, EHT, and other related payments through established internal procedures. Ensure payroll and benefits activities comply with applicable laws, regulations, and company policies.

  • Coordinate with AP and Finance on vendor payments and reconciliation of payroll and benefits-related transactions.

  • Review and continuously improve payroll and benefits processes, including the development and maintenance of SOPs, procedures, and templates. Maintain complete, accurate, and traceable payroll and benefits documentation and records.

  • Manage the Payroll shared mailbox, including reviewing, categorizing, responding to, and archiving employee inquiries to ensure timely and traceable communication. Provide employees with guidance and training on payroll and benefits policies, processes, and systems.

  • Collaborate with HR, Finance, AP, and external vendors to support HR projects and day-to-day operations.

The total target annual compensation (based on 2,080 hours per year) ranges from $48,000 to $94,000 depending on education, experience, and demonstrated expertise.

Job requirements

About the ideal candidate: 

  • Bachelor degree in a Business/Accounting or related area.

  • 2+ years of experience in payroll and benefits.

  • Ceridian Dayforce or ADP Workforce experience is an asset.

  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment.

  • Excellent knowledge of MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).

  • Ability to multi task while adhering to strict timelines.

  • Good communication skills.
