Huawei Canada has an immediate 12-month contract opening for an UX Design Consultant.


About the Team:

Established in 2012, the Central Media Technology Institute (CMTI) is Huawei's center for media technology innovation and engineering, enhancing the technical competitiveness of media products. Sitting within CMTI, the Graphics Technology Lab focuses on research and breakthroughs in photography, audio, video, computer graphics, XR, and codec standards to maintain the company's leadership in media technology. Our R&D team comprises skilled CG algorithm experts, researchers, software architects, and standards specialists dedicated to building core capabilities for an improved graphics experience.


About the Job:

  • Collaborate at the nexus of human-centered design and technology, specializing in leading creative teams to craft product strategies and uncover opportunities for technological innovation.
  • Define the next-generation mobile user experience to help enterprise customers succeed by leveraging deep insight into the business value provided by UX design.
  • Researches and clarifies product requirements, UX, and user interface challenges by interacting with customers, product management or other senior people.
  • Propose and implement quick prototypes to validate technology choices, with interactions with customers or prospects as needed. Strong hands-on ability is a must.
  • Write and communicate guidelines for common components and frameworks to the product architect and other senior developers.

Job requirements

What you’ll bring to the team:

  • ­­10+ year’s extensive experience in leading the UX design, especially for mobile phones
  • Highly innovative DNA with extreme passion and ability to create, design and implement creative and ground-breaking ideas
  • Deep understanding and experience with current UX design best practices, and the new emerging technology and tools
  • Deep understanding of UX strategy, Conceptual modelling, wireframing and prototyping, run-times and programming interfaces
  • Successful and proven experience in UX design, User flow modelling and experience design for different personas
  • Have strong self-research capability and learn new technology/products quickly
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills to interact with both internal and external people
  • Master and above degree or extensive research background is an asset
  • Seek out and welcome new challenges is an asset


The target annual compensation (based on 2080 hours per year) ranges from $190,000 to $230,000 depending on education, experience and demonstrated expertise.
