Technical Planning Engineer - Emerging Storage

Huawei Canada has an immediate 12-month contract opening for a Technical Planning Engineer.

About the team:

The Emerging Storage Lab is a research group based at Huawei Canada's Toronto and Vancouver Research Centre that is focused on next-generation storage technologies and innovations. Our team comprises graduate computer engineers and computer scientists with diverse industry experience, ranging from 0 to over 20 years. This lab investigates various storage-related topics, including storage devices, persistent memory, file systems, storage networks, and AI storage, aiming to advance the field and drive storage technological progress in the new AI era.

About the job:

• Seek and plan technology innovations in AI storage and emerging storage. You will help influence research and development efforts in future AI architecture, IT infrastructure, storage software stack, and future devices.

• Develop insights through in-depth research and analysis, attending industry and academic conferences and forums, and participating in internal technology and strategy planning group discussions.

• As a key individual contributor, you are responsible for exploring and defining the technology landscape, trends and frontiers that will have significant impact to the industry and Huawei’s mid-term and long-term storage business.

• Drive technology strategy and technology development charters to contribute to Huawei storage's technology competitiveness and readiness in the future.

• Develop research directions and topics to advance state of art knowledge and insights on subject matters.

About the ideal candidate:

• A Ph.D. degree in Computer Science, or AI/storage related field.

• Deep knowledge of high-performance AI computing microarchitecture, AI acceleration, computer system architecture, or enterprise storage.

• Proficient in studying state-of-the-art research work and developing new ideas.

• Driven, passion for technology and innovation, self-starter.
