Huawei Canada has an immediate 12-month contract opening for a Senior Researcher.

About the team:

The Technology Planning and Cooperation Department promotes strategic innovation across all of Huawei Canada. Working with fellow experts, the focus is researching new and upcoming areas of technology as well as strategic planning to help achieve long term vision of Huawei. This department offers a unique opportunity to leverage both technical and business skills.

About the job:

• Seek and discover emerging technological innovations relating to compute, AI, software stack and development, optical communication, IoT and Edge devices and hardware.

• Bring in technology innovation discoveries in emerging topics for influencing research and development efforts and future roadmaps of the company.

• Attend and participate in industrial conferences and meetings for gathering open advanced technology information.

• Develop technological insights through the participation or research published materials presented at various conferences, events, professional organizations and industrial meetings.

• Contribute to technology strategy and technology development charters for company’s technology competitiveness and readiness in the future.

• Reach out and contact industrial experts or organizations for potential collaboration and consultation.

• Analyze the potential value, technical breakthrough and technical difficulties of new technologies relating to various area of interest. Make in-depth technology and industry analysis reports, providing an overview reference for strategic decision-making.

• Assisting other members on the team to translate technology papers and summaries into Mandarin to address Mandarin speaking audience.

About the ideal candidate:

• 5+ years of industrial experience with strong technology curiosity.

• University degree in Computer Science/Engineering, or in STEM related field.

• Proficient in studying state-of-the-art research work, disruptive technologies, product improvement potentials and new ideas initiatives.

• Ability to summarize new technology findings and advancement in a concise and easy to understand format.

• Excellent knowledge of some or all fields relating to computing, networking, system software, Cloud computing, optical communication and related industries.

• Self-driven and passion for technology and innovation and a self-starter.

• Outgoing personality. Not shy to approach strangers and ability to strike conversations be it technical or business topics.

• Proficient in written and spoken Mandarin to support translation responsibilities.
