Intern Researcher - Efficient LLMs

Huawei Canada has an immediate internship opening for a Researcher.

Founded in 2012, the Noah’s Ark lab has evolved into a prominent research organization with notable achievements in academia and industry. The lab’s mission focuses on advancing artificial intelligence and related fields to benefit the company and society. Driven by impactful, long-term projects, the aim is to enhance state-of-the-art research while integrating innovations into the company's products and services, including LLMs, RL, NLP, computer vision, AI theory, and Autonomous driving.

About the job:

• Keeping track of the latest progresses in the (selected) AI/ML areas (especially efficient large language models).

• Conducting experiments on LLMs and large-scale data sets to verify and evaluate the proposed ideas and solutions.

• Contributing to the proposal of high-impact intellectual properties (e.g., patents), publishing of research papers in top-tier AI/ML conferences.

About the ideal candidate:

• Currently a PhD or Master's student in computer science or related fields.

• A strong publication record in top-tier machine learning (ML) and natural language processing (NLP) venues (e.g., NeurIPS, ICML, ICLR, ACL, EMNLP, NAACL).

• Strong AI/ML coding skills in Python; experienced with Pytorch.

• Good communication skills, willingness to collaborate, and self-motivated.

• Relevant experience in reinforcement learning post-training or model merging/pruning is an asset.
