Job description

Our team has an immediate permanent opening for a DFX Digital Engineering Specialist.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and propose innovative system architectures and design principles that integrate DFX methodologies to ensure the trustworthiness of AI systems.
  • Conduct risk assessments and design mitigation strategies to address potential safety and reliability issues.
  • Design and develop systems models, reliability models and safety models for AI systems, utilizing exceptional problem-solving skills to overcome challenges and develop solutions.
  • Lead and conduct pioneering research in the architecture and design of AI systems, emphasizing DFX principles to enhance trustworthiness attributes like safety, reliability, and availability.
  • Drive continuous improvement in Design for X (DFX) process and methodologies.
  • Document system designs, architectures, and development processes clearly and comprehensively.
  • Stay current with emerging trends and technologies in AI, assured autonomy and systems engineering, applying this knowledge to enhance system architecture and design.
  • Work cross-functionally to set the broader strategy and roadmap.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior team members to support their growth and development.
  • Collaborate with external partners and research institutions to foster innovation and expand the reach of our research.

Job requirements

What you'll bring to the team:

  • MS or PhD in in Computer Science, Robotics, Artificial Intelligence, relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience;
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as C/C++, Python, or similar;
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in system architecture and design, with a focus on AI systems;
  • Strong expertise in DFX principles, including safety, reliability, and security in AI systems;
  • Excellent knowledge and proven experience with ML/DL, LLMs, multimodal foundation models, or large generative models;
  • Experience solving complex problems and comparing alternative solutions, tradeoffs, and diverse points of view to determine a path forward;
  • Outstanding engineering skills for rapid research prototyping, open-source release, or production development;
  • Experience in driving technical strategy and vision for engineering teams and organizations;
  • Self-motivated and enjoy exploring “undefined” territory, and solving hard problems, and building systems from the lowest level if needed.
