Co-op Assistant Researcher – Autonomous Driving

Huawei Canada has an immediate 12/16-month Co-op opening for an Assistant Researcher.

Founded in 2012, the Noah’s Ark lab has evolved into a prominent research organization with notable achievements in academia and industry. The lab’s mission focuses on advancing artificial intelligence and related fields to benefit the company and society. Driven by impactful, long-term projects, the aim is to enhance state-of-the-art research while integrating innovations into the company's products and services, including LLMs, RL, NLP, computer vision, AI theory, and Autonomous driving.

About the job:

• Work with autonomous driving dataset for training AD planning modules.

• Develop supporting tools for simulation environments to facilitate AD research and development.

• Study related academic research papers.

• Implement, test and deploy DL-based AD models using Python.

• Closely collaborate and interact with other team members and support their research activities.

About the ideal candidate:

• Majoring in Robotics, Machine Learning, Computer Science, or related fields.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

• Excellent coding skills with Python

• Familiarity with deep learning frameworks such as Pytorch and Tensorflow

• Familiarity with Linux

• Strong grasp of fundamentals: linear algebra, discrete and continuous optimization, supervised and unsupervised learning, generative and discriminative learning

• Experience in one or more focus areas: reinforcement learning, imitation learning, inverse reinforcement learning, safe RL, multi-agent training, Bayesian inference, etc.
