Huawei Canada has an immediate 12-month contract opening for a Business Assistant.

About the team:

The Technology Planning and Cooperation Department promotes strategic innovation across all of Huawei Canada. Working with fellow experts, the focus is researching new and upcoming areas of technology as well as strategic planning to help achieve long term vision of Huawei. This department offers a unique opportunity to leverage both technical and business skills.

About the job:

  • Assist in organizing internal and external academic conferences, including but not limited to operational management, event coordination, execution, and post-event report compilation.

  • Collect, summarize, and track outcomes of academic activities (e.g. cooperation projects, collaboration resources, talent resources).

  • Organize meetings between departments and product lines, document minutes, and track follow-up actions.

  • Assist department staff with procurement and travel process coordination.

  • Support budget management and ensure its rational execution.

  • Facilitate the generation and implementation of innovation initiatives within the department, monitor progress, and promptly identify issues.

  • Assist department staff in pre-conference, during-conference, and post-conference related tasks for academic conferences, and maintain statistics and tracking of each individual's progress.

  • Assisting other members on the team to translate technology papers and summaries into Mandarin to address Mandarin speaking audience.

Job requirements

About the ideal candidate:

  • Bachelor’s degree or above, with experience in project management, conference planning, event organization and promotion.

  • Diligent, organized, patient, and determined to continuously advance towards achieving the ultimate goal.

  • Excellent communication, teamwork, and execution skills; fast learner with a proactive and open mindset.

  • Proficient in using office software such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

  • Proficient in written and spoken Mandarin to support translation responsibilities.
