Our team has an immediate 12-month contract opening for a Patent Assistant.
Responsibilities:
- Provide administrative and clerical support to the IPR Department.
- Support Huawei Canada's patent review boards by managing disclosure and patent filings for review, tracking filing deadlines, entering results into Huawei’s patent database, and scheduling meetings.
- Interface with outside counsel handling Huawei Canada's patent matters, review patent-related invoices, and support the procedure for paying patent-related invoices.
- Generate dockets and reports from Huawei’s patent database, perform data entry, and manage tasks.
- Prepare and electronically file documents at U.S. and Canadian Patent Offices is required.
Job requirements
What you'll bring to the team:
- Minimum of 2+ years of experience as an Administrative Assistant, preferably in a law firm or in-house legal department.
- Thorough familiarity with U.S. & Canadian Patent Office/PCT filing practices and procedures is an asset.
- Strong knowledge of office procedures and practices, with attention to detail.
- Professional demeanor and excellent communication skills.
- Proactive in identifying organizational needs, a self-starter, with a desire to work in a fast-paced environment and achieve success.
- Strong computer literacy, including proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Outlook, and Adobe Acrobat, is essential.
