Intern Test Engineer - Optical Communication System

About the job:

• Set up an optical fiber communication testbed with off-the-shelf components.

• Develop scripts for automated control of the testbed, which needs to realize functionalities such as connecting to instruments, reading data, analyzing data, determining actions for next steps and configuring the instruments.

• Conduct transmission tests and analyze experimental data.

About the ideal candidate:

• Bachelor’s/Master’s/PhD student in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Computer Science or a related field.

• Familiar with Python, able to write script for instrument control and test automation.

• Hands-on experimental skills in optical testing; Familiar with optical measurement instruments including optical/electric spectrum analyzer, sampling oscilloscope and real-time oscilloscope, optical/RF power meter, fiber fusion splicer, etc.

• Logical thinker with strong problem-solving skills.

• Knowledge of basic concepts of optical communication system and components (for example, fiber, EDFA, etc.) is an asset.
