Huawei Canada has an immediate 8/12/16-month Co-op opening for an Assistant Researcher.

About the team:

Founded in 2012, the Noah’s Ark lab has evolved into a prominent research organization with notable achievements in academia and industry. The lab’s mission focuses on advancing artificial intelligence and related fields to benefit the company and society. Driven by impactful, long-term projects, the aim is to enhance state-of-the-art research while integrating innovations into the company's products and services, including LLMs, RL, NLP, computer vision, AI theory, and Autonomous driving.

About the job:

  • Use your deep understanding of CV, ML, NLP and AI to tackle meaningful technical problems, collaborate with the most innovative product development team in the world and transfer your ideas into solutions in the next generation of Huawei products.

  • Utilize frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, and other relevant tools to build and deploy machine learning models.

  • Conduct academic & applied research with a collaborative team of researchers by developing core algorithms and platforms to enhance the core competitiveness and user experience of Huawei's related products.

  • Guide and manage the processes including data collection, processing, model training, testing.

  • Develop highly-optimized, compact models for real-time processing.

  • Develop and fine-tune neural network architectures, including convolutional neural networks (CNNs), encoder-decoder structures, and generative networks.

Job requirements

About the ideal candidate:

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.

  • Proficient in software design and programming with expertise in Python, C/C++, and hands-on development experience, preferably in a Linux-based environment.

  • Solid foundation in AI/ML principles, with exposure to cutting-edge machine learning trends.

  • Comfortable working in laboratory settings and hands-on environments.

  • Capable of contributing to all phases of projects, from initial concept through simulation to proof of concept.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
